Vanessa Bee - Creator
"I am addicted to horses, there is no other way of life for me."
Vanessa Bee has been starting and developing businesses for 25 years so when the opportunity arose to start The Good Horsemanship Society there was no hesitation in developing the idea. Trained as a mathematician and teacher Vanessa has ridden and driven horses for over forty years. In 2002 she developed the Positive Horsemanship Certificate courses followed by the phenomenally successful Horse Agility Club in 2010.
‘Every day with my horses and businesses is a joy – we only pass through life once – I’m going to live it.’

Philip Osborne – One Man Support Team.
‘I absolutely believe in what The Good Horsemanship Society is doing, I wouldn’t work for it if I didn’t.’
Philip spent his childhood on the edge of Dartmoor riding unridable ponies that his mother brought home from the local market on a regular basis. After moving to the North Devon coast he started working for the National Trust staying with them for twenty years rising to Head Warden of The Morte Estate. He ‘retired’ in 2003 to help Vanessa develop her many business ideas. He runs the farm, designs and constructs horse training pens and agility obstacles and keeps our world running when everything seems hopelessly out of control.
‘If you want to be successful with horses (and in life) learn to reverse your trailer.’

Emma Tarrant – Webmaster and Inspiration
Emma has been around horses most of her life attending Pony Club, riding racehorses throughout her teens and early twenties, show jumping and managing competition yards. Emma met Vanessa Bee in 2005 when she moved to Devon and subsequently qualified as a Positive Horsemanship Trainer. Emma has spent time abroad and in the UK observing and working with wild horses and believes that studying the behaviour and interactions of horses in their natural environment allows us a much clearer insight into the true nature of the horse and therefore our domestic equines.
Emma is passionate about being part of something which is going to make the future a better place for horses.

Steve Barrett – Insurance Genius
Steve began working in insurance nearly twenty years ago when in 1998 he discovered horses through his wife who was interested in natural horsemanship. After being runaway with and subsequently sliding rather inelegantly to the ground he became interested in why the horse had behaved in such a way and so began to study safer methods of riding and training horses.
‘ I learnt that you didn’t need bigger and bigger bits in the horse’s mouth and when I was riding with a head collar and rope I felt very confident.’
Steve soon found out however that there was no insurance for this way of riding and he began to research and build a strong relationship with a Lloyds Syndicate which has resulted in The Good Horsemanship Society being able to offer a completely new insurance product which covers any rider or handler whatever equipment they use.
